Power outage continues in Ghat for eight-day running

The power outage in the city of Ghat and surrounding areas entered its eighth consecutive day after two power transmission towers collapsed due to strong wind and a recent storm.

A municipal official explained that maintenance teams are continuing their work to restore electricity. One of the replacement towers has been dismantled and transported, while work continues to dismantle the second tower in preparation for its installation at the site of the outage. 

He added that the replacement towers are being transported from an area approximately 300 kilometers away and are identical to the specifications of the damaged towers. 

He also noted that the power outage affected the municipalities of Ghat, Al-Uwaynat, Tahala, and Al-Barakat, which have a combined population of approximately 40,000, impacting basic services and daily life.
