Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom visited the headquarters of eFinance for Digital and Financial Investments Group, in which the National Investment Bank (NIB), affiliated with the ministry, holds a 21.8% stake.
During the visit, the minister held an extensive meeting with Ibrahim Sarhan, Chairperson of eFinance Group, in the presence of the company’s and ministry’s executive leadership. The meeting addressed the Group’s future expansion plans and its role in supporting Egypt’s digital infrastructure.
Rostom praised the company’s track record and its transformation from a single company into an integrated investment group comprising several subsidiaries, making it a technology arm and strategic partner in the implementation of major national projects.
He also noted that NIB’s stake in the Group represents a model of institutional investment that strikes a careful balance between generating strong economic returns, creating new employment opportunities, and achieving sustainable development impact in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The Planning Minister stressed that completing the electronic payment and collection ecosystem and developing government services provided to citizens are no longer a luxury, but rather a fundamental pillar for enhancing transparency and building a more efficient and competitive economy.
He further affirmed that the ministry is stepping up its efforts to maximise the role of NIB and its affiliated entities in supporting leading national companies operating in the sector.
For his part, Sarhan said that eFinance Group is pursuing a growth strategy focused on maximising its technological and financial capabilities and consolidating its position as a comprehensive provider of secure digital solutions in Egypt and the region.
Sarhan explained that the Group’s contributions now extend to managing and operating the digital infrastructure of several major national projects through an integrated approach that improves spending efficiency and facilitates revenue collection. These include the technological system underpinning the Universal Health Insurance Scheme, as well as the Egyptian government’s financial network.
