The story
Three wins from three have given Pitso Mosimane a flawless start to his second spell as Bafana Bafana head coach, but the veteran tactician has acknowledged there is still a long road ahead.
Taking to his social media pages for the first time since before last week’s FIFA international break, Pitso expressed gratitude for the six points Bafana picked up in their first two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea, as well as the narrow international friendly win over Egypt.
“Jingles” also thanked President Cyril Ramaphosa for visiting the squad before the clash against the Pharaohs.
Take a look:
“Three games, three wins. Being in camp with the team last month was a privilege. We tested ourselves, saw the quality within this team and made a positive start towards AFCON 2027 Qualifiers,” wrote Pitso on his socials, attaching a carousel of training pics.
“There is still a long road ahead, but the direction is clear, and the work continues. Grateful to represent South Africa and to everyone who continues to support Bafana Bafana.
“A special thank you to His Excellency, President Ramaphosa, for visiting us whilst we were in Egypt. It was an honour to meet you and hear your words of encouragement,” added Mosimane.
With November’s AFCON qualifiers against Kenya on the horizon, Bafana Bafana will be intent on keeping this momentum going. For Mosimane, the task is to show that this bright start is not merely a new manager bounce but the foundation of a real era of success.
