PETA offers reward to find person who abandoned guinea pigs in exercise balls in O’Fallon, Missouri

O’FALLON, Mo. (First Alert 4) – PETA is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction on cruelty-to-animals charges of the person who abandoned four guinea pigs in plastic exercise balls in O’Fallon, Missouri.

The guinea pigs were found by a Good Samaritan on the side of Old Highway N near Hawk Ridge Trail on Aug. 9. Three of the four guinea pigs died, and the other was taken to the vet.

When the guinea pigs were dumped, temperatures exceeded 95 degrees.

“Three of these terrified guinea pigs likely baked to death or starved while the lone survivor was forced to watch them die,” says PETA Senior Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA urges anyone with information to come forward so that whoever abandoned these animals can be held accountable—and prevented from hurting anyone else.”
