“Persecution will come”: Cameroonian Bishop Urges Catholic Communicators to Persevere in Proclaiming Christ

“Persecution will come,” the Cameroonian Bishop warned, adding that communicators would also encounter “difficulties” as well as “sufferings and hardships.”

Despite these challenges, the Local Ordinary of Buea urged Catholic communicators to remain faithful to their calling.

“We have to persevere and make sure that we continue with the work of the transmission of the good news, so that the world may believe that Jesus truly is the Savior of the world,” he said.

Reflecting on the Father’s words during the Transfiguration, “This is my Son, the Beloved, listen to him,” Bishop Bibi challenged Catholic communicators to make listening to God the foundation of their mission.

“As communicators, we must be ready to listen to God,” the Local Ordinary of Buea, who started his Episcopal Ministry in March 2017 as Auxiliary Bishop of Cameroon’s Bamenda Archdiocese said.

“When we listen, we must pray for the wisdom to understand what we have listened, so that we can better communicate that to our brothers and our sisters,” Bishop Bibi said.

The Cameroonian Catholic Bishop also said the Feast of the Transfiguration reveals the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, pointing to the presence of Jesus, the voice of the Father, and the Holy Spirit symbolized by the cloud as God’s self-revelation.

He further reminded Catholic communicators that earthly life is not their final destination, saying the Transfiguration directs believers toward the glory that awaits them in God’s Kingdom.
