Patriarch Kirill congratulated President Putin on Russia Day

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow has extended his congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of Russia Day, praising the country’s development under his leadership and expressing gratitude for the President’s support of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In his message, Patriarch Kirill stated that Russia today serves as “an example of genuine sovereignty and national identity, successful social and economic development, and a harmonious combination of technological progress with a commitment to traditional moral values.”

The Patriarch also thanked Putin for his “constant attention to the life of the Russian Orthodox Church,” expressing confidence that cooperation between state authorities, religious communities, public organizations, and “all people of goodwill” would enable the country to overcome future challenges while safeguarding the nation.

“I am convinced that, by joining the efforts of state authorities, religious and public organizations, and all people of goodwill, we will continue to be able to overcome any difficulties and challenges, while preserving and protecting our beloved homeland,” he wrote.

Concluding his message, Patriarch Kirill wished the Russian President “strength in body and spirit, abundant divine assistance, and success” in carrying out his duties as head of state.

The congratulatory message was published on June 12, Russia Day, a national holiday marking the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation in 1990.
