Pakistan: Egyptian foreign minister invites Ishaq Dar to Egypt
In Pakistan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty invited Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to pay a bilateral visit to Egypt. The invitation was extended during a telephone conversation between the diplomats, Dawn reports, citing Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

According to Pakistan’s foreign ministry, Abdelatty and Dar discussed bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan, as well as regional and international issues. The Egyptian minister invited his Pakistani counterpart to visit the country at the earliest opportunity.
The sides also reaffirmed their intention to remain engaged on regional security issues. They agreed to meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this month.

In November last year, Badr Abdelatty visited Pakistan on an official two-day visit at the invitation of Ishaq Dar. He then met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, as well as with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry reported that Munir and Abdelatty discussed defence and security cooperation, military exchanges, training cooperation, regional peace and stability. During that trip, Dar stated that bilateral commercial activity between the two countries amounted to about $300 million and did not correspond to the potential of their relations.
Dar also said he intended to provide Egypt with a list of 250 Pakistani companies from key economic sectors to strengthen bilateral commercial cooperation. In May, Pakistani representatives and an Egyptian delegation agreed to expand cooperation between their interior ministries and launch joint police training programmes.
Regional engagement
Egypt and Pakistan are also members of the R-4 regional group together with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. The grouping focuses on regional security issues.
