Oman-Yemen Electricity Interconnection Agreements Signed in Salalah – News and Statistics

Two bilateral agreements were concluded in Salalah between Oman and Yemen, centered on a power grid link that connects Oman’s Dhofar Governorate system with the network in Yemen’s Al Mahra Governorate. The purpose of these pacts is to deepen energy-sector collaboration and bolster the dependability of electricity delivery in Al Mahra by tying it to the Dhofar grid.

The initial accord was executed by Ali Shammas, who serves as CEO of Nama for Dhofar Services, alongside Othman Owaid, the Director General of Yemen’s Public Electricity Corporation in Al Mahra. A subsequent agreement was signed by Ahmed Al Abri, CEO of Nama for Power and Water Procurement, and Mohsen Balhaf, who holds the position of Director at the Yemen Petroleum Company in Al Mahra.

As part of this venture, power will first be delivered to the towns of Hawf and Shahn through the distribution infrastructure, carrying projected loads of 3 MW and 5 MW, respectively. For Al Ghaydah, the potential supply could climb as high as 50 MW.

This undertaking is anticipated to reinforce energy infrastructure, address electricity needs, and underpin stability and progress in Al Mahra, while also aiding social and economic pursuits throughout the region.
