NPFL secures $7.5 million EUROMATCH sponsorship

The Nigerian Premier Football League will receive $7.5 million from EUROMATCH under a three-year sponsorship agreement.

The deal translates to about N10.5 billion, based on the exchange-rate figure announced at the sponsorship unveiling.

NPFL chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye disclosed the agreement on Wednesday in Abuja during the unveiling of EUROMATCH as the league’s new sponsor.

Mr Elegbeleye said EUROMATCH would pay $2.5 million annually throughout the three-year sponsorship agreement.

“The amount involved in the three-year sponsorship deal is $2.5 million per season. So, for the three seasons they will be sponsoring us, we will get a total of $7.5 million from our sponsors,” he said.

The NPFL chairman described the agreement as a significant development for the domestic league and commended stakeholders for its progress.

“I want to commend everyone for making out time to be part of this historical event of unveiling new sponsors for the NPFL. Let me inform us that we now have new sponsors in the name of EUROMATCH,” Mr Elegbeleye added.

He said the league’s progress was increasingly evident through improved attendance at matches across the country. According to him, attracting spectators to NPFL stadiums was no longer a major concern for the league administration.

“We now have massive spectators coming out to watch our matches. We are no longer struggling to get spectators to the stadium,” he said.

Mr Elegbeleye said the league administration was instead facing the challenge of effectively managing the growing crowds attending matches.

The sponsorship unveiling attracted prominent football stakeholders, including Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Gusau.

The new agreement is expected to strengthen the NPFL’s commercial position while supporting efforts to sustain the league’s growing spectator appeal.
