NPFL: Obasogie savours Bendel Insurance return

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, has expressed delight at returning to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Bendel Insurance.

Obasogie who joined Bendel Insurance in 2019 left the club after the 2023/24 season in search of a new challenge.

He returned to Benin Arsenal after his stint with Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema in the 2024/25 season, as well as Singida Black Stars of Tanzania last season.

Obasogie who was part of the Super Eagles squad which won the bronze at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, described the move as an opportunity to continue his development with greater experience.

“Back to where part of my journey began,” the 2023 Federation Cup winner wrote on Instagram.

“Sometimes, life takes you away so you can grow, learn, and become stronger. Today, I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to my former team not just as a player, but with more experience, hunger, and determination.

“I’m ready to give my all for the badge, the team, and the supporters. Back home, back to work. Let the journey continue.”

Obasogie will be expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear on Bendel Insurance, who will face Warri Wolves in the 2026/27 NPFL season’s opener this weekend.
