NPFL Matchday 2 Results so far: Doma United Go Top as Pillars Win Five-Goal Thriller
LAGOS, Nigeria — Doma United sit top of the Nigeria Premier Football League after Matchday 2 games played so far, while three fixtures involving CAF clubs were postponed.
Saturday’s only game produced the weekend’s first away win. Sadiq Rilwan scored in the 71st minute as Doma beat Inter Lagos 1-0. It was a second successive victory over a Lagos side after they had already seen off Sporting Lagos.
Sunday’s card was split between results and postponements.
Kun Khalifat 0-0 Barau in Owerri left Barau unbeaten after two matches. Nasarawa United beat Bendel Insurance 1-0 through Sam Pam in the 55th minute. Plateau United claimed a first win of the season, Alex Aghahowa scoring in the 29th minute against Kwara United in Jos.
The match of the day was in Kano. Kano Pillars beat Niger Tornadoes 3-2 for Daniel Ogunmodede’s first win as coach. Ubong Friday scored in the 40th minute. Fabian Nworie added goals in first-half stoppage time and the 54th minute. Godfrey Joseph and Wasiu Jimoh replied for Tornadoes.
Warri Wolves v Rangers, Katsina United v Rivers United and Enyimba v Shooting Stars were postponed while Rangers, Rivers and Shooting Stars fulfil CAF first-leg commitments.
Monday: Ranchers Bees v Abia Warriors.
Wednesday 30 September, 16:00: Sporting Lagos v Ikorodu City.
