Nimba Mourns Former Superintendent Korquoi

SANNIQUELLIE, Nimba County, July 3, 2026 — Nimba County Superintendent Ma Kou Meapeh Gono on Thursday signed the book of condolences opened in honor of former Nimba County Superintendent Nelson Korquoi, paying tribute to the late public servant for his years of service to the county.

The signing ceremony marked the official opening of the condolence register, allowing residents, government officials, family members, and well-wishers to honor the late former superintendent.

Superintendent Gono was among the first officials to sign the register, underscoring the county administration’s recognition of Korquoi’s contributions to public service and community development.

Speaking during the ceremony, Gono described Korquoi as a patriotic son of Nimba County whose dedication to public service inspired many.

She said his leadership was marked by integrity, humility, and a strong commitment to improving the lives of the people, adding that his contributions would remain part of the county’s history.

“The passing of Hon. Korquoi is not only a loss to his immediate family but also to Nimba County and the nation as a whole,” Gono said.

She extended condolences to the bereaved family and encouraged residents to honor Korquoi’s legacy by embracing the values he exemplified, including unity, honesty, dedication, and selfless service.

Gono noted that leaders are remembered not only for the positions they held but also for the positive impact they made on the lives of ordinary citizens.

The condolence register has been opened to the public, enabling family members, friends, community leaders, former and current government officials, and other well-wishers to pay their respects.

Residents from across Nimba County are expected to visit the venue in the coming days to sign the register ahead of Korquoi’s funeral.
