Niger State has opened an international pre-qualification process for the construction and installation of solar photovoltaic power generation facilities together with the construction of grid interconnection and evacuation infrastructure. The call forms part of the Niger State Solar Energy Development Project, which is being implemented by the Niger State Government through its Project Management Unit.

The procurement is backed by financing from the Islamic Development Bank, with the Federal Republic of Nigeria applying for instalment sales financing to cover part of the civil works. The bank’s procurement guidelines from April 2019, revised in February 2023, govern the pre-qualification and subsequent bidding, which will be run as International Competitive Bidding open.

The works are split into two lots. Lot 1 covers the construction and installation of the Maikunkele Solar PV Power generation plant with a capacity of 100 MW in Bosso LGA, under reference NSSEP/WKS/ICB/26/01/Lot 1. Lot 2 covers the construction of grid interconnection and evacuation infrastructure for Maikunkele, also in Bosso LGA, under reference NSSEP/WKS/ICB/26/01/Lot 2.

The Specific Procurement Notice was issued on 1 September 2026, with the last date for submission set for 13 October 2026. This invitation follows an earlier General Procurement Notice published on the Islamic Development Bank website on 26 July 2026 and in the Leadership Newspaper on 23 July 2026.

The project carries the code NGA1063 and is listed as active under an International Competitive Bidding open prequalification. Further correspondence and document requests are directed to the project email [email protected]
