Nigerian Teenager Maliq Musa Completes Move to Zulte Waregem

Maliq Musa has taken an important step in his football career after completing a move from Nigerian Premier Football League side Ikorodu City to Belgian club Zulte Waregem.

The promising Nigerian has joined the Belgian outfit on loan, with Zulte Waregem holding an option to make the transfer permanent.

The move represents a significant opportunity for the youngster to continue his development in European football.

Musa reportedly attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including Spanish giants Barcelona, before Zulte Waregem secured his services.

The Belgian club sees the Nigerian as a player with considerable potential and plans to carefully manage his transition to a new football environment.

For now, Musa will begin his time at Jong Essevee, Zulte Waregem’s U-23 team. The arrangement is expected to give him valuable experience as he becomes accustomed to Belgian football, while also allowing the club to monitor his progress before considering a first-team opportunity.

The youngster enjoyed his breakthrough season with Ikorodu City, making nine league appearances and recording one goal and one assist.

Although those numbers are modest, his performances were enough to attract attention from clubs outside Nigeria.

Zulte Waregem assistant coach Davy De fauw praised Musa’s ability while stressing the importance of patience during his development.

He described the teenager as a player with significant qualities and said the club would provide the necessary support as he adapts to his new surroundings.

The move could become a major turning point in Musa’s career, with the Nigerian now hoping to establish himself in Belgium and eventually earn a place in Zulte Waregem’s senior squad.
