Nigerian police said they found a two-year-old boy and detained two suspects in a case involving a suspected staged kidnapping in Plateau State. The child received medical care before being handed over to his father.
Police version
According to Premium Times Nigeria, citing a statement by police spokesperson Ani Iniedu, 34-year-old Nansik Sule allegedly conspired with the boy’s mother, Catherine Davou, to stage the child’s kidnapping.
According to law enforcement officials, an initial ransom of 7 million naira was demanded for the boy. During the subsequent investigation, police determined that the child was being held at Sule’s residence, while the ransom amount was later increased to 15 million naira.

Detentions and investigation
Police also reported the detention of Luka Butdam. According to investigators, he called the child’s grandmother in connection with the ransom demand. Officers established the boy’s whereabouts and found him safely.
Law enforcement officials noted that this episode was one of two investigations conducted by their Intelligence Response Team. The investigation is ongoing, with police identifying other possible individuals involved in the case.
