Coach’s assessment

Flamingos head coach Akim Busari said that Niger’s team played in a low defensive block, tried to slow the game down and contain his team’s attacks. According to him, Nigeria needed to control the ball, stretch the opponents’ defence, create one-on-one situations and convert chances better.

Busari noted that his players failed to use many opportunities in the first half. He also called the match useful experience ahead of bigger tournaments, including the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. The coach added that, despite the scoreline, Niger’s team has young and energetic players.

Nigeria’s next opponent at the WAFU B Cup will be Ghana. The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 19.
