The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Benin, Ambassador Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim, has presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency Romuald Wadagni.
Adeola-Ibrahim was received at the Palais de la Marina on 10 July 2026.
According to a statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Ambassador Adeola-Ibrahim held fruitful discussions with President Wadagni shortly after the presentation on issues of mutual interest to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.
The discussions, he stated, “Focused on the early convening of the next session of the Nigeria–Benin Joint National Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, expanding private sector-led investments, enhancing collaboration in the energy sector, improving intelligence sharing, and advancing other shared priorities of strategic importance to both countries.”
The Ministry also noted that the presentation of Letters of Credence marks the formal commencement of Ambassador Adeola-Ibrahim’s diplomatic mandate and reaffirms both countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation, promoting regional integration, and strengthening the bonds of friendship and good neighbourliness.
