* Ikon Allah Boys Target continental qualification
Experienced coach Kabiru Suleiman Dogo has been unveiled as the new Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes on a three-year contract, with the Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL) side setting a clear target of qualifying for continental football at the end of the 2026/27 season.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Niger State Ministry of Sports Development in Minna, where club officials and government representatives reaffirmed their commitment to restoring the fortunes of the “Ikon Allah Boys.”
Dogo arrives with one of the most impressive coaching resumes in Nigerian domestic football, having managed clubs including Nasarawa United, Sunshine Stars, Kwara United, ABS, Lobi Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors.
He is also preparing El-Kanemi Warriors for next weekend’s President Federation Cup final against Ikorodu City before officially assuming duties with Tornadoes.
Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Sports Development, Dr. Nuhu Garba Ngaski, described Dogo’s appointment as part of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s “New Niger” agenda aimed at repositioning sports in the state.
“This appointment aligns with the New Niger vision. Niger Tornadoes remains a source of pride for our people, and we expect everyone to work together towards achieving continental qualification,” Ngaski said.
He assured the club of the state government’s continued support and urged the new coach to begin preparations immediately.
Club Chairman Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso said management’s objective is straightforward.
“Our major target for the 2026/27 season is to secure one of the available continental qualification tickets. The technical crew will receive our full support in achieving that ambition.”
Kuso also confirmed that the club will return to the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna after renovation works are completed before the new NPFL season, expected to begin in August.
In his remarks , Dogo thanked the Niger State Government and the club for the confidence placed in him.
“I am delighted to join Niger Tornadoes. I appreciate the confidence shown in me and I am committed to building a competitive team capable of meeting the club’s ambitions. Our supporters will see a revitalised Niger Tornadoes.”
Dogo is widely regarded as one of the NPFL’s most experienced tacticians, having guided several clubs to impressive league finishes and helping Nasarawa United qualify for continental competition during his coaching career.
His appointment signals Niger Tornadoes’ determination to compete among the league’s leading sides.
