Neoenergia makes history in Brazil: it is crowned the sole sustainable leader in its sector according to Kantar
Neoenergia, the Brazilian subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, has made history by establishing itself amongst the corporations with the best sustainability reputation in the South American giant.
This is confirmed by the global BrandSustainability 2026 index from the prestigious international consultancy Kantar, a prestigious ranking in which the company has not only climbed the ranks but has also established itself as the only firm in its sector to achieve the coveted “leader” status.
An Energy Model Evaluated by Consumers
Through a study analysing consumer perceptions of brands’ socio-environmental practices and their ability to generate trust and value, the company has achieved second place overall in Brazil and is the only one in the Brazilian energy sector to have been awarded ‘leader’ status.
Among the initiatives that have contributed to this ranking are:
- The School for Women Electricians: A project which has trained some 1,300 women and recruited more than 1,000 of them into Neoenergia’s workforce.
- The Vale Luz programme: An initiative which allows citizens to exchange recyclable waste for direct discounts on their electricity bills.
- Energy efficiency measures: Impactful actions such as the replacement of more than 480,000 traditional light bulbs with LED technology throughout 2025
Commitment to a Just Energy Transition
This recognition reinforces the Iberdrola Group’s commitment to a just energy transition, capable of combining electrification with social and economic development in the communities where it operates.
