Murder inquiry following death of Brazilian woman (33) in Limerick – The Irish Times


Gardaí have begun a murder inquiry following a postmortem on the body of a woman who was found dead in an apartment complex in Limerick on Friday.

The body of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa (33), who was from Brazil, was discovered on the third floor of the Carlton House apartment block at Cecil Street.

It is understood she had been stabbed to death.

Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry and are understood to be looking to question a man in connection with her killing.

The alarm was raised after the woman’s workmates grew concerned when she had not shown up for work.

Gardaí arrived at the apartment block at about 7.30am on Friday, and forced entry to an apartment where they found her body.

Gardaí sealed off the building, conducted door-to-door enquiries and harvested CCTV footage from the apartment block and surrounding areas.

Her body was taken to the mortuary in University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem was carried out.

In a statement on Saturday, gardaí said the results of the postmortem examination are not being released for operational reasons.

“An Garda Síochána is now carrying out a murder investigation,” a statement said.

It added that a family liaison officer has been assigned to support the dead woman’s family and the scene remains preserved for a technical examination.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. and incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda station.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Tributes were posted online for Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, who was a native of Sorocaba, a city in the state of São Paulo.

A friend of hers posted a picture online of them together in happier times and said: “Eternal memories of you, my dear. Only God knows how much you helped me and how contagious your joy was. May the Lord Jesus recieve you in his arms eternally.

“We had many happy moments but today, you went to live with Jesus. Eternal memories. I will never forget your kindness,” she added.
