Morocco: Temperatures of up to 46°C and thundery showers on Tuesday and Wednesday

A heatwave and thundery showers accompanied by hail and gusty winds during storms are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in several Moroccan provinces, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) announced.

A heatwave with temperatures ranging between 42 and 46°C will affect the provinces of Tata, Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Aousserd on Tuesday and Wednesday, the DGM said in an orange-level weather alert bulletin.

Temperatures between 38 and 42°C are expected over the same period in the provinces of Guelmim, Laâyoune, Taroudant, Tan-Tan, and Tarfaya, the DGM added.

The same heatwave, with temperatures of 38 to 42°C, is forecast for Tuesday in the provinces of Chtouka-Ait Baha, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Chichaoua, El Kelâa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Khémisset, Fquih Ben Salah, Safi, Settat, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Benslimane, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Berrechid, Youssoufia, Essaouira, El Jadida, and Sidi Bennour.

Meanwhile, thundery showers accompanied by hail and gusty winds during storms, with rainfall of 30 to 40 mm, are expected on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Al Haouz, Tinghir, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Midelt, Béni Mellal, Azilal, Figuig, Guercif, Khénifra, and Ifrane.
