Morocco Squad Starts Arriving at Mohammed VI Complex Ahead of World Cup Camp

Rabat – Morocco’s World Cup preparations are now officially underway.

Atlas Lions players have started arriving at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora as the national team begins its training camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Several players were already present on the first day of the gathering, including Yassine Bounou, Brahim Diaz, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Azzedine Ounahi, and Yassine Gessime.

Coach Mohamed Ouahbi recently announced his final 26-man squad for the tournament, keeping the experienced backbone of the team with players like Achraf Hakimi, Bounou, and Sofyan Amrabat all included. Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi is also part of the squad and is one of the new faces many fans are excited to watch.

Hakimi is expected to join the camp after playing the Champions League final with Paris Saint-Germain this weekend.

The mood around the national team is full of excitement as Morocco prepares for another World Cup appearance after the unforgettable run in Qatar in 2022.

Before the tournament starts, Morocco will play 2 friendly matches. The first will be against Madagascar on June 2 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The team will then travel to the United States, where it faces Norway in New Jersey on June 7 in its final warm-up game.

Morocco has been drawn into Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.

The Atlas Lions will start their World Cup campaign against Brazil on June 13 at New York New Jersey Stadium before facing Scotland on June 19 in Boston. The final group match against Haiti will take place on June 24 in Atlanta.

Morocco is entering the tournament as Africa’s highest-ranked national team, previous World Cup semifinalist and 2025 AFCON champions so expectations are naturally high.
