Morocco Launches New Fuel Support Round for Road Transport Professionals

Casablanca – Morocco’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced on Tuesday a new round of exceptional direct financial support for professionals in the road transport sector, covering the period from July 16 to 31, 2026.

The ministry said the measure is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to help passenger and freight transport operators cope with the continued impact of high international petroleum prices on the domestic market.

Applications for the additional support will open on Thursday, August 6, through the ministry’s dedicated online platform.

The latest installment continues a support program that has been renewed several times since fuel prices began putting pressure on transport costs. Earlier this year, the government also shifted the system to payments every 15 days to better reflect fluctuations in fuel prices on international markets.

The announcement comes days after fuel prices in Morocco rose again following a brief period of relief. At the beginning of May, diesel prices fell by around MAD 1 per liter and gasoline by about MAD 1.10, bringing both below the MAD 15 per liter mark after several consecutive increases. However, the decline proved temporary as prices resumed their upward trend in recent days.

Road transport professionals have repeatedly called on the government to maintain the subsidy, arguing that operating costs remain high despite occasional price adjustments at the pump.

Industry representatives have warned that the support has become essential for many companies providing passenger and freight transport services.

The ministry did not disclose the financial value of the new support installment, but said the program aims to reduce the impact of fuel price volatility on transport operators while maintaining assistance for the sector.
