Morocco, Italy Sign Deal to Boost Business Internationalization

Rabat – Morocco and Italy have taken another step toward strengthening their economic ties after the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCMI) and Italian cooperative banking group Iccrea Banca signed an agreement in Rome to support businesses seeking to expand across the two markets.

The agreement was signed by CCMI President Marouan El Mansoub and Iccrea Banca’s Director of Transactional Banking and Export Credit, Massimo Meliconi, and it is designed to help Italian companies enter and develop their activities in Morocco while facilitating commercial links with Moroccan businesses.

It also targets members of Morocco’s community in Italy, with the agreement providing support for new business projects connecting the two countries, as well as the expansion of existing activities in Morocco.

El Mansoub said the partnership would provide Italian companies with greater support in their internationalization efforts and in developing commercial exchanges with Moroccan firms.

He also highlighted its potential benefits for Moroccans living in Italy, particularly those looking to launch new commercial projects in Morocco or expand businesses they already operate.

For the CCMI president, the agreement represents a further step in deepening bilateral economic relations and could create new opportunities for cooperation, investment, and business development.

Meliconi said the partnership would allow Iccrea Banca to expand the tools available to its members as they pursue international growth. He pointed to the importance of providing companies with access to expertise, business networks, and opportunities in Morocco.

He described Morocco as one of Africa’s most dynamic and promising markets for Italian businesses, notably citing both its strategic position between Europe and Africa and its investment environment.

The agreement comes as opportunities continue to emerge across sectors including energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, automotive and tourism.

Both sides are therefore positioning the partnership as a mechanism to strengthen business links between Moroccan and Italian companies and support greater cross-border investment and commercial activity.
