Temperatures could reach 44°C in parts of Morocco through Monday, Sept. 14, while strong winds are expected in the north Sunday, the General Directorate of Meteorology said in an updated orange alert.
Highs of 40°C to 44°C are forecast Sunday and Monday in provinces including Marrakech, Fez, Beni Mellal, Kenitra, Settat, Taroudant and Tata.
Temperatures of 36°C to 40°C are expected in areas including Casablanca, Rabat, Salé, Meknes, Agadir, Essaouira, Safi and El Jadida during the same period.
The bulletin also forecasts highs of 38°C to 41°C in Tan-Tan, Oued Ed Dahab, Boujdour, Laayoune and Tarfaya.
Separately, wind gusts of 75 to 85 kilometers per hour are expected Sunday, Sept. 13, in Fahs-Anjra and Tangier-Assilah. Both the heat and wind warnings were classified at the orange vigilance level in the bulletin issued Sunday morning.
