Morocco defender Issa Diop scored in the 91st minute to force extra time against the Netherlands in Monday’s last-32 clash between the two sides.
The Dutch appeared to be closing in on a World Cup knockout victory after Cody Gakpo’s goal in the 72nd minute broke the deadlock.
But Diop was the unlikely hero for the Atlas Lions, rising high to power home a pinpoint header in stoppage time for his first international goal.
The two sides will play 30 minutes of extra time, and, if necessary, a penalty shootout to determine who advances.
The winner will meet Canada on July 4 in the round of 16.
