The high-stakes quarter-final match was decided early in the first half. Cameroon missed a big chance to score in the 13th minute when forward Arnold Massokon broke through Morocco’s defense but failed to finish.
Morocco took a chance through that mistake just four minutes later. In the 17th minute, Mohamed Habib Zenbi scored the only goal of the match, giving the host nation a 1-0 lead.
Cameroon fought hard for an equalizer in the second half, using their physical strength to create aerial chances. Massokon threatened again in the 69th minute with a close header, but Morocco’s defense held strong.
Led by captain Ismail El Aoud, the Atlas Cubs absorbed continuous pressure in the final ten minutes to protect their clean sheet.
