Consumer price index data for February 2026, released by the High Commission for Planning (HCP), shows a monthly increase. The index reached 119.6 in February, up from 119.0 in January, representing a 0.5% rise.

Category-Level Changes

The food and non-alcoholic beverages category saw a 0.9% increase compared to the previous month. This was driven by higher prices for fish and seafood (4.5%), fruits (2.1%), meats (1.6%), vegetables (1.0%), and dairy products, eggs, coffee, tea, and cocoa (each up 0.4%). In contrast, prices for oils and fats fell by 2.2%, and mineral water, soft drinks, and fruit and vegetable juices declined by 0.4%. Other categories recorded changes ranging from no movement to a 1.1% increase.

City-Level Variations

Among cities, the largest monthly price increases were observed in Oujda and Tangier (1.4%), followed by Tetouan (1.2%), Fez, Kenitra, and Al Hoceima (0.7%), Beni Mellal (0.6%), Agadir, Meknes, and Dakhla (0.5%), and Casablanca, Rabat, and Settat (0.3%). Price decreases were recorded in Safi (0.4%) and in Guelmim and Errachidia (0.2%).

Annual Comparison

On an annual basis, the consumer price index for the first two months of 2026 was 0.7% lower than the same period in 2025. The index for February 2026 alone was 0.6% below its level in February 2025.
