Morocco and Argentina eye strategic partnership through trade and logistics

«Morocco and Argentina have the economic potential to elevate their bilateral relations to a continent-wide strategic partnership,» stated Morocco’s ambassador to Argentina, Fares Yassir. He emphasized the convergence of regional opportunities within this dynamic integration.

Speaking at the third edition of the Santa Fe Business Forum in Rosario, Yassir highlighted that the province of Santa Fe, along with Buenos Aires and Córdoba, has become one of Morocco’s key trading partners in Argentina. This synergy is strategically built around an agro-industrial axis.

In light of this mutually beneficial exchange, Yassir urged the expansion of trade flows to position Argentina as a leading economic partner for Morocco in South America.

During his address, titled «Infrastructure and logistics: drivers of Morocco’s industrial acceleration,» the diplomat outlined Morocco’s strategy to leverage its geographical position and cement its role at the heart of major global trade routes.

He notably highlighted the launch of Africa’s first high-speed train and the expansion of the Tanger Med port complex on the Strait of Gibraltar, a crucial maritime corridor through which approximately 100,000 ships pass each year.

The ambassador concluded by stating Morocco’s aim to establish a two-way strategic alliance, positioning itself as a gateway for Argentina to Africa, the Mediterranean basin, and the Arab world, while also relying on Argentina to access the Mercosur market and the broader continent.
