Moroccan Provinces Expect Thunderstorms, Wind and Hail

Several Moroccan provinces are expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by strong wind and potential hail.

A statement from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts rainfall from this afternoon to 11 p.m. today in the provinces of Boulemane, Khenifra, and Midelt, with downpours expected to reach between 20 and 35 millimeters.

The same weather is expected in Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Tinghir, and Al Haouz.

The weather office also expects thunderstorms in Figuig, Jerada, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Guercif, and Taourirt.

Morocco has been experiencing strong heatwaves in the aforementioned regions and beyond.

In some provinces, especially those in central and southern provinces, the weather reaches temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius.

In coastal areas, weather ranges between 27 and 33 degrees, with exceptional heatwaves that could range up to 37 degrees.

End of June and early week of July, coastal cities like Rabat witnessed temperatures of up to 37 degrees.

The high temperatures urged authorities to release a statement, calling on citizens to exert caution, wear light clothes, and stay hydrated.

The statement from the Health Ministry also urged citizens to avoid exposure to the sun and outdoor activities during hot weather
