Rulani Mokwena’s Pyramids FC received a unique lecture from the Referees Committee ahead of the 2026/27 Egyptian Premier League season.

The Egyptian Premier League season kicks off this coming weekend with Pyramids facing Ghazl El Mahalla in their league opener.

It will be Mokwena’s first taste of Egyptian football following his move to the Sky Blues from Al-Ittihad in July, and the South African will be tasked with winning the club’s maiden league title.

Pyramids Receive Football Lesson

With the season approaching, the Pyramids players received a lecture from Referees Committee vice-president Gamal El-Ghandour on the new rules to be implemented, according to Btolat.

The publication revealed that the lecture was aimed at educating the players on the new laws which will apply for the upcoming season, and the session was attended by the players, technical, administrative and medical staff.

El-Ghandour revealed that all the new laws were approved by FIFA for the new season, and will follow those that were implemented during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Some of the rules in question include the new time limit for substituted players to leave the field, and a 5-second countdown for goal kicks and throw-ins.
