Ministry of Justice announces release of a number of Libyan and foreign inmates

The Ministry of Justice has announced the immediate implementation of the Supreme Judicial Council’s decision to pardon a number of inmates from serving the remainder of their sentences, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, within the framework of the approved legal and humanitarian procedures. 

The ministry explained that the decision included the release of a number of Libyan inmates, along with prisoners of other Arab and foreign nationalities, in coordination with the Judicial Police. 

The foreigners released will be deported to their respective countries after the necessary legal procedures are completed.

According to the ministry, the release included inmates of several nationalities, most notably 63 from Egypt, 36 from Niger, 32 from Nigeria, 25 from Sudan, and 22 from Chad, in addition to prisoners from Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and several other Arab, African, and Asian countries.
