Mike James powers dominant Team USA win over Colombia
Led by Mike James’ scoring and playmaking brilliance, Team USA swept Window 4 of the 2027 FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifiers with a massive win against Colombia.
Team USA maintained its dominance in the Americas Qualifiers, acing Window 4 with another wire-to-wire victory.
In a high-powered offensive attack, the Americans crushed Colombia with a 104-80 win, further strengthening their odds of securing a ticket to next year’s FIBA World Cup in Qatar.
Mike James paced the United States squad with his stellar floor-general play, finishing with 11 points, nine assists, and five steals across 25 minutes.
Cole Swider led all Team USA scorers with 18 points, while Orlando Robinson added 17.
The trio of Jaron Blossomgame, DeJon Jarreau, and James Nunnally dropped 16 points each.
Leading by 11 entering halftime, Team USA completely left Colombia behind in the third frame to secure the game, executing an aggressive 15-0 run to lead by as many as 27 points.
Braian Angola starred for Colombia in a losing effort, churning a game-high 19 points.
Team USA gets closer to 2027 FIBA World Cup spot
With the victory over Colombia, Team USA improved to 7-1 in their Americas Qualifiers run. They sit comfortably atop the standings of Group E, with Brazil and the Dominican Republic trailing for the top spot.
As for Colombia, their record dropped to 3-5. Their goal of making it to Qatar took a significant hit.
Seven teams from the Americas region will qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, with four more games left over the November and February windows.
