Cuba has a new queen! After an intense period of preparation and a nerve-racking night at the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center in Miami, Mia Dio was crowned Miss Universe Cuba 2026, succeeding Lina Luaces. She will represent Cuba at the diamond edition of Miss Universe in Puerto Rico.
Mia Angelina Donadio Cancio, better known as Mia Dio, is 25 years old and determined to pursue her dreams while continuing the legacy of a family that has long hoped to see a free Cuba. As a content creator, Mia has built a loyal following that supports her across her many projects. Her platform has also become an important part of how she communicates her values and shares the causes closest to her heart.
Despite her young age, Mia has already faced experiences that have tested her resilience and pushed her to keep moving forward. In 2025, she competed in Miss Universe Cuba just days after suffering facial paralysis. She ultimately finished as a finalist, and afterward, she questioned whether she wanted to put herself through the competition again.
Her pageant journey also includes an appearance on Nuestra Belleza Latina in 2021. In an interview with HOLA! Americas, Mia opens up about the moment she won the Miss Universe Cuba crown, the perseverance that brought her back to the competition, and the legacy she hopes to carry as she prepares to represent Cuba on the Miss Universe stage.
“I proved my discipline, my commitment to my people, and my ability to communicate.”
