Bafana Bafana defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi will sit out Chicago Fire’s next match following a suspension that also resulted in a fine.
‘TLB’, as Mbokazi is affectionately known, has picked up five yellow cards in the Major Soccer League (MLS) this season, which triggered the one-match suspension.

Mbokazi, therefore, will not be available for Thursday’s clash against Orlando City at Soldier Field. He has also incurred a $250 (approximately R4,200) fine by the league.
The center back has been impressive since his return from a thigh injury early in September. Since then, he has started all six MLS games while earning praise for his defensive abilities.
The 21-year-old will return for Sunday’s away clash against Colorado Rapids in Commerce City.
TLB’s return to the Bafana Sqaud
The former Orlando Pirates defender was recently named the fourth-best player in the MLS’s 22 Under 22 class of 2026, while also being drafted into Bafana Bafana’s provisional squad to face Kenya in back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November.
To date, the Hluhluwe-born KwaZulu-Natal center-back has played 14 times for South Africa’s senior national team.
