Teams: Real Madrid v Ray Vallecano
Result: 4-1
Scorers: Mbappe (14′, 90+1′), Carreras (17′), Bellingham (35′) / Camello (51′)
Jose Mourinho handed a start to big-money signing Yan Diomande who joined Kylian Mbappe and Vinícius Junior in the attack while Antonio Rudiger came into the defence and replaced Dan Huijsen.
There has been a lot of talk of the Ballon d’Or in the last week and Mbappe showed why he is one of the nominees when he opened the scoring on 14 minutes with his fifth goal in as many league matches.
The lead was doubled three minutes later when Mbappe turned provider to play in Alvaro Carreras, who controlled well before rifling the ball into the top corner to open his account for the campaign.
Mourinho’s charges were in full control and added a third goal ten minutes before the half-time break when Jude Bellingham finished off a well-worked passing move with a lovely finish that sailed in off the upright.
Vallecano, however, had to wait until the 51st minute to get one goal back in the clash as Sergio Camello picked up the ball on the edge of the box before finding the bottom corner with a lovely finish.
Mourinho introduced some fresh legs for the final 20 minutes as Aurelien Tchouameni came on for Bernardo Silva in midfield, while Diomande’s evening also came to an end after he was replaced by Arda Guler.
Mbappe had the final say on the night as he completed his brace in second-half stoppage time with a snap-shot from close range to round off the scoring for Mourinho’s charges, who now move level on points with league leaders FC Barcelona.
