Man charged with sexual misconduct claims 16-year old victim is his wife | WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM

ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – An Angola man was booked into the Steuben County Jail on Wednesday following his arrest at his residence on McKinley Street.

The suspect, 21-year-old Deniss Guzman, faces a Level 5 felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor and a Level 6 felony charge of domestic battery in the presence of a juvenile.

Angola police  responded to the home after an argument broke out, during which witnesses reported that Guzman allegedly threatened the victim.

According to court records, Guzman claimed to responding officers that he and the 16-year-old victim were married a year ago in Mexico when she was 15.

Investigators said that Guzman appeared heavily intoxicated during the incident and required an iPad translator to understand his Miranda rights.

Following the arrest, the juvenile female was transported to Cameron Hospital for evaluation and has since been turned over to the Indiana Department of Child Services.
