Malian Army Announces Neutralization of Dozens of Militants in Central Region Attack

The Malian army announced on Thursday evening the neutralization of dozens of militants and the destruction of numerous motorcycles and four-wheel-drive vehicles. These actions followed air and ground operations launched in response to an attack targeting the Dioura sector in the Mopti region of central Mali.

In a statement, the Malian Armed Forces said, “Following the recent statement regarding the attack launched by armed terrorist groups in the Dioura area on September 10, 2026, the Malian Armed Forces are continuing their air and ground operations against the attackers,” according to Sputnik.

The statement added that the preliminary toll of the operations indicates the “neutralization of dozens of terrorists and the destruction of a large number of motorcycles and four-wheel-drive vehicles.”

On July 4, the Malian army had previously announced attacks on its positions in Anefis (northeast), the cities of Gao and Sévaré (central), and two other towns.
