Magnitude 5.8 earthquake strikes Papua New Guinea | St George & Sutherland Shire Leader

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 has jolted Papua New Guinea’s north coast.

The quake struck at 8.59pm AEST, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

Papua New Guinea sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, the arc of seismic faults around the Pacific Ocean where much of the world’s earthquake and volcanic activity occurs.
