On August 24, President Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 291, which approves a draft agreement between the governments of Belarus and Zimbabwe on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters as a basis for negotiations. This was reported by BELTA, citing the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The agreement defines the main forms of cooperation between the parties, the procedure for providing mutual assistance for the proper application of customs legislation, the organization of information exchange, and cooperation in the prevention and investigation of customs violations.
Implementation of the agreement will improve the effectiveness of customs authorities in protecting the state’s economic interests.
The State Customs Committee is authorized to negotiate and sign the draft agreement.
