Iran will continue blockading the Strait of Hormuz until the United States agrees to its conditions, the country’s Tasnim News Agency reported, citing a source close to Tehran’s negotiating team in its talks with Oman.
According to Tasnim, which is linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran and Oman have agreed on new entry and exit routes passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The route entering the Persian Gulf is set to lie entirely within Iranian territorial waters, while part of the route exiting the Gulf will also pass through Iranian territorial waters, Tasnim said.
“This agreement in no way means that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen,” the source reportedly told Tasnim.
“Iran has conveyed seven conditions to the American side through intermediaries for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Until these seven conditions, which have been approved by the highest authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, are implemented, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed.”
