ATLANTA ― Morocco and Haiti will go head-to-head Wednesday (6 p.m. ET, FOX) in more World Cup action.

To open tournament play, Morocco had a 1-1 draw with Brazil on June 13 before beating Scotland 1-0 six days later. The Atlas Lions led for almost the entire match after Ismael Saibari scored in the second minute. The ball he blasted was the fastest scored goal to date at the 2026 World Cup. Morocco will continue its World Cup pursuit Wednesday evening in Atlanta.

Haiti has already been eliminated from the 2026 World Cup. It lost 1-0 to Scotland to open the tournament on June 13 and lost 3-0 to Brazil on June 19. The Grenadiers, who are playing in just their second-ever World Cup, failed to register any group stage points, just as they did during their tournament debut in 1974.

On June 19, Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, who plays for the Morocco national team, said he faced trial on a rape charge and welcomed the opportunity to put across his point of view.

Hakimi, 27, had appealed his referral to criminal court. French media reported earlier that the Versailles appeals court had rejected the appeal, paving the way for his trial in a criminal court at some point in the future.

“Regardless of our elimination, it’s important for us to play well for this third game because our qualification for the World Cup means so much hope for the Haitians … The real loss would be us giving up.”

Following its win, Morocco now sits atop Group C with Brazil. Both countries are tied in the standings with four points, and Morocco is on track for the knockout round. Still, Morocco has one objective for Wednesday.

“We’re here at the World Cup. We’re here to win. We wanna be first in our group. We need to win the game,” head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said ahead of the match. “(If our goal is) not winning the game, that would be regretful for us.”
