Libyan prosecutors detain officials in LYD 130 million corruption investigation

Libya’s Public Prosecution has ordered the pretrial detention of the finance director of Tatweer Industrial Investment Company and two board members over an alleged LYD 130 million corruption case.

According to the Attorney General Office, the suspects approved financing for North Africa Project Support Company for projects that were never implemented, despite the absence of any genuine value behind the funding.

Investigators also found that payments exceeding the company’s capital were authorized to enable others to obtain unlawful financial benefits, causing significant damage to the company’s financial position. Prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for the remaining suspects allegedly involved in the case as the investigation continues.
