Libya’s General Administration for Coastal Security rescued 36 migrants after intercepting an attempted illegal migration crossing toward Europe off the coast of Zawiya on Thursday.
According to the administration, a patrol boat from the Zawiya Maritime Anti-Smuggling and Illegal Migration Unit responded to a distress call and located an inflatable boat carrying approximately 36 migrants of African nationalities, including three children and a pregnant woman, who had become stranded at sea.
The rescued migrants were taken to the Port of Tripoli, where the necessary legal procedures were completed before they were transferred to the General Administration for Anti-Illegal Migration Agency.
