Libya Targets 4 bcf/d Gas Production Within Five Years

Libya plans to increase its natural gas production to at least 4 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) over the next three to five years, Reuters reported citing Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdulsadek.

Speaking at a forum in Bangkok, Abdulsadek said Libya has identified significant opportunities to raise gas output based solely on its discovered resources.

The targeted increase would come from both non-associated gas and associated gas resources, the minister said.

The plan forms part of Libya’s efforts to maximize its existing hydrocarbon resources and strengthen domestic gas production.

Libya produced around 903 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas in 2025, according to data from the National Oil Corporation (NOC), equivalent to approximately 2.47 bcf/d. Of this volume, around 633 bcf was consumed domestically, highlighting the pressure from rising domestic demand on gas available for exports
