Libya records 28 drowning deaths, over 50 sea rescues in two months

Libya recorded 28 drowning deaths and more than 50 sea rescue operations between the beginning of May and July 5, according to data from marine rescue units across the country’s eastern, central, and western regions.

Rescue teams said the incidents occurred amid rough sea conditions and high-risk swimming environments, prompting authorities to raise red warning flags at several beaches and urge the public to stay out of the water.

The National Safety Authority has renewed its warning against swimming until the end of the week, citing persistent hazardous sea conditions and calling on the public to follow safety guidelines to help prevent further drowning incidents.
