Libya Presidency Council Split Over Intelligence Chief Appointment

The Presidency Council, headed by Mohamed Al-Menfi, issued decisions today to relieve Hussein Al-Ayeb of his duties as head of the General Intelligence Service, and to assign Abdelmajid Al-Maligta as head of the service. It also appointed Abdulshafi Al-Juwaifi as Deputy Head.

However, Musa Al-Koni, Member of the Presidency Council denied he had approved the changing of the head of General Intelligence in yesterday’s meeting.

Equally, House of Representatives Speaker, Ageela Saleh also stated that the timing of these sovereign position appointments by the Presidency Council, without consulting other bodies, is meant to cause political turbulence.
