Libya, Malta in talks to boost audit cooperation

Libya’s Audit Bureau President, Khaled Shakshak, has held talks with Malta’s Auditor General, Charles Deguara, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ supreme audit institutions.

The meeting took place on Friday at the Maltese National Audit Office in Valletta.

Discussions focused on exchanging professional expertise, adopting modern auditing methods, and sharing international best practice. Both sides also explored capacity-building programmes and institutional development to improve oversight performance.

The two officials stressed the importance of closer technical and professional ties to support transparency, good governance, and the protection of public funds.

They agreed to hold a virtual meeting between technical teams in the coming period to set priorities and launch joint cooperation programmes.
