Libya, Italy discuss military cooperation and training

Libya’s Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met his Italian counterpart, Lt Gen Luciano Portolano, in Tripoli to discuss strengthening military cooperation, particularly in training and professional development.

The two officials held bilateral talks following a reception ceremony, discussing training, capacity-building and the exchange of expertise, according to the General Staff.

They also reviewed progress made in military cooperation and stressed the importance of building on those results and expanding areas of partnership.

After the meeting, al-Namroush and Portolano met Defence Ministry Undersecretary Lt Gen Abdulsalam al-Zoubi at the ministry.

The talks covered issues of mutual interest, including strengthening cooperation in military and defence fields.
