Libya discusses investment with German firm, including ‘smart’ medical city plan

The General Authority for Investment Promotion and Privatisation Affairs has held talks with a German-linked business delegation on boosting cooperation and attracting foreign investment.

The delegation included representatives from the Economic Holding Group and Germany-based Nickel & Partners, along with regional executives overseeing projects in North Africa and the Middle East.

During the meeting, the authority outlined its role in supporting investment, the services it offers, and incentives available under Investment Law No. 9 of 2010, aimed at improving the business climate and encouraging strategic projects.

Both sides also discussed a proposal to establish an integrated “smart” medical city in Libya. The project would include hospitals, specialised centres and advanced healthcare systems built to international standards.

Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to attract strategic international investment, support economic development and improve healthcare services.
